Microsoft Azure is the cloud computing and hosting side of Microsoft. This is a business-focused part of the company which is in direct competition with AWS or Amazon Web Services.

It's a significant fact that they are starting to focus their workloads more on analytics for companies. This would include having companies collect data and process this data using microsoft azure.

This means that more and more companies are interested in having data collected on a large scale then processed on a large scale too, with the help of cloud computing. 

Since Microsoft has focused on the business side of computing, the company has grown much more significantly and are making less market-related mistakes. Microsoft would be one of the most qualified companies to make the prediction of how companies are taking advantage of cloud computing to their own benefit. Microsoft has determined analytics is the number one growing service companies want to pursue.

The question now is not whether companies are shifting to big data, the question now is how. This could either be a huge opportunity or a scary threat.
