Instagram has become the most popular social media in all over the world and it's also owned by Facebook. The feature of Instagram is their heart button which user can engage with these posts, using hashtag is also one of their characteristic, it can help categorize posts, increase engagement, strength brand image and help reach a target audience.
The functions mentioned above can produce tremendous data information, by artificial intelligence, they can offer great insights to people as well as business model.
Rampant spam has been bothered Instagram since they founded. To solve this problem, they make a good use of artificial intelligence to remove fake messages from account written in nine different languages, once the messages is delete it will be remove automatically. Though the AI text analytics and filter ability, they can understand the text nearly as great as human and effectively filtering the accounts which have fake followers.
It's crucial for the platform to targeted provide interest-based content to different users. So, big data will be an useful tool for them to complete this mission. Moreover, Instagram has been making apparent use of its Big Data for crisis communication. For instance, during the 2012 Hurricane Sandy, social media, Instagram, in particular, was instrumental in connecting the victims of Sandy. This helped perceive the change in affairs surrounding disasters while also helping the victims get through to their families as the people active on social media were able to see that their loved ones were safe, while also getting a good look inside the storm.
