Comment: Who will really benefit from the EU's big data plan?

I think this is a really interesting topic. I never thought about big data have such an impact on EU economic, and it made me want to dig in more about it,

“The battle for industrial data starts now,” Thierry Breton, the EU Commissioner for the Internal Market told Reuters.

Unlike other countries, privacy is very important in the European Union, and there are many laws and regulations on privacy. The United States and China have an insurmountable advantage in converting user data into money and data sets to train AI algorithms. The European Union intends to use big data technology to help its companies and startups access data collected from connected objects.

Today, 80% of data processing and analysis occur in data centers and centralized computing facilities, while 20% occur in computing facilities near intelligently connected pairs, centers, and users. For SME, big data technology is crucial, it is related to the development of training artificial intelligence systems, and it is also a key resource for developing products and services.

In order to promote the development of big data in the European Union, the European Commission plans to create nine European "data spaces" in the fields of manufacturing, transportation, energy, agriculture, and health. They encourage companies such as manufacturers or car manufacturers to provide some of their data to the entire European ecosystem for access, in order to encourage them to access data from other organizations in return, and at the same time encourage "analysis results from the data pool, such as predictive Maintenance service or license fee."
