Big data privacy is a bigger issue than you think

With the big data analysis growing fast, we can see it everywhere. Also, it is more convenient for people to do everything. However, it will be a huge problem if a big data system was hacked by bad people. Then, a lot of issues may explosion. This article mainly talks bout DIKW(data, information, knowledge, wisdom) pyramid.

The first level is the data. Everyone may be worried about privacy problems, including me. In the algorithm, the system needs lots of data to do the calculation. The biggest concern is the password. Many people easily forget their password, so they often set the same number or use the same pattern. In fact, it is a bad habit since theft can steal money and also information.

The next level is information. People nowadays like to express their emotions and advice on social media. Their friends and even the whole world can know his or her phone number and email address. It causes a serious issue. Maybe someone may harass him or her every day.

The third level is knowledge. Somebody has said, “Knowledge is power.” If you want to scare someone, just go to her fan page. Like I mentioned before, information is stolen by bad people could lead to serious problems. Youtube used big data to predict the videos you may like showing on your page. It is a good example. However, what if a man steals your phone number on your Facebook fan page and keeps calling you. It is a bad example.

We all have secrets and we all do not want to reveal them. Not only individuals but also businesses should consider this issue.
