The article provided by Sharon is mainly talking about the importance of small companies to adopt big data. Because at the beginning of the appear of big data. Small companies tend to ignore this new technology. Most of them think this is just a quick hit for the new internet invention so they choose to stay away from the big data world. But now they may discover the vital reasons why they should pay more attention to the big data technology and it is also time for them to walk into the big data world to build their own advantages.

First of all, data is everything in a company. If without the data, the company knows nothing. Think about a company lack of their customers’ feedback or some related surveys, how can the company operate further? The company knows nothing about what their customers’ preference is and have no idea about what to improve in the future. The company will be totally in a mess.

From another aspect, if the small company want to grow up and expand their company size, they are sure to compete with other competitors. The big companies, the competitor of small companies, are conducting the big data function then why the small companies keep ignoring big data? If the small companies do not adopt the big data right now, they would expose to a big risk.

While adopting big data, social media and applications also affect a lot. All the steps conducted by the customers can be recorded into the companies’ database. As social media, likes, comments, or posts are all basic but large components of the dataset. As for the applications, the companies can acquire all the information just after the customers download the app on their mobile equipment, even can combining with the company’s inside system at the same time.

The article also takes COVID-19 as an example. Recently, a lot of companies are affected by COVID-19 and some of the companies cannot run under normal operation. However, with adopting the big data system, even if the companies need to work, separately, they still can perform with high productivity and satisfy the customer as well.
