Big Data: The Most Powerful Way To Understand Your Workers
Blog#4 Big Data: The Most Powerful Way To Understand Your Workers
In this article, people believe that AI and other computer models will never provide real insight into human behavior and human thinking. However, thanks to big data analysis, companies can understand the reasons for employee turnover and other business-related aspects of workers' personal experiences. To be honest, today's advanced technology has made rapid progress. I also believe that the machine will not provide many of the functions that people can provide, but it can even replace humans in recent times. In my opinion, what big data is most helpful to us is that it can provide information to people, and they can use data visualization to solve problems. However, the model can only point out the problem, and whether it is solved depends on the enterprise or people. Taking the example in this article as an example, it points out that employee demographic information can play a huge role in determining their behavior. For example, millennial employees are not only more willing to change jobs, but also more concerned about work-life balance and other issues. Therefore, commuting time and heavy overtime work may have a greater impact on the behavior of millennial employees than their colleagues. After the business know the problem, the management should take action. They can ignore or discuss the problem and come up with a better solution, depending on their decision. I think big data analysis does provide convenience for this generation, but the most important thing is how people think about how to solve problems.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the article sharing. It tells that big data analysis give a huge enforce for the company to understand their employees. For example, reason on workers turnover. Normally, manager may receive a reason for why this workers want to quit. But actually there are a lot of thing hidden inside. After the analysis reveals, it carry out lot of think in front of people. Millennial employees are not only more willing to change jobs, but also more concerned about work-life balance. Therefore, commuting time and heavy overtime work may have a greater impact on the behavior of millennial employees than their colleagues. Also the high voluntary turnover rate of employees is in the first 30-90 days, it may indicates that there may have interpersonal conflicts with new employee and their co workers or they may not be able to adapt to the company's culture at all. So once company understand the reason of turnover they should take the corresponding action to solve the problem. The model analysis can only point out the problem. What will goes on depends on the actual actions taken by management level workers. If they know that commuting time is a problem it does not mean that they know exactly what to do. Maybe the solution is to allow increased remote office, provide shuttle service, increase salary, or do nothing the problem will adjust buy them self automatically. So big data is a primary diagnostic tool, to provide help for human resource department conduct supervision and self-improvement.
