Big companies are not becoming data driven fast enough

John McAfee has predicted the current expansion of big data technology several years ago, but few companies listened. The ones that made use of it are now far better of than companies that ignored this prediction.
Big companies are continuing to ignore this trend. There are a few possible reasons for this:
1. The management is an aging body and they think that because the company was successful in the past without big data, that the company will be successful without it in the future.
2. They think their industry is not compatible with big data.
3. Their management is not technology driven and does not see the benefits to big data.
4. It's expensive to get qualified people working on setting up data collection and processing.
5. They think they are too big to fail.
All of the above mentioned reasons are terrible and worrying for the future of big companies - this, however, makes space for truly innovative companies that might even not exist today, but will exist in the future.
Big data can be useful in any industry and can optimize many different parts of the business, it does not just have to be with data dealing with users or customers, it could be processes within the company that are very non-efficient.
