This article contains a lot of new ideas and some examples that I had never seen before. Overall, the examples are very useful for some startups to learn how big data can do. Besides, it covers a paragraph regarding government management and the medical industry. I think it will be a future trend for humans.
- Education industry
The new transformed education system becomes more helpful for students. It not only changes the grading system but also creates a brand-new learning program. In that case, each student has his or her studying scheme. Also, to my surprise, big data can help students to predict their future career, analyzing strengths and weaknesses for them.
- Healthcare industry
Considering an aging society, more and more seniors live alone without good healthcare. Apple released a wearable device that uses big data-based to diagnose patients’ symptoms, calling the ambulance and family immediately if it detects the emergency. From my point of view, I think it is a quite reliable device if I am one of the family members of a senior. Since health insurance should be used on the people who are poor and lack of resources, with the big data device, it can reduce the costs of unnecessary diagnosis.
- Government sector
In the article, it talks about how big data helps the government to analyze and get to know better regarding citizens’ daily life. It also covers the problem-solving. Big data is just like a huge computer containing many databases including, each persons’ information. Therefore, the government can effectively inform important issues and record the agriculture industry.
- Media and entertainment industry
Big data analysis can also use in the entertainment sector. For example, every video on the main page is special-recommended for you through a series of complex calculations. Customization is how big data works. I take another one for instance. I think a lot of people might have a similar experience. After searching for some products on E-commerce platforms, the advertisements for the goods will keep showing up on your notebook or your phones. It targets customers’ interests to predict.
- Weather patterns
Weather prediction is where big data works most widely. First, it gathers information about the weather and makes the prediction. Second, through history, it can forecast the future. Moreover, the article talks about big data can forecast further future—natural disasters. I think it is much important since the government can prepare for it, doing some prevention first.
- Transportation industry
Google maps is an application combining big data analysis. It can generate the fastest route for you. While you are driving or riding a motorcycle, it can detect the route anytime. Thus, you can avoid congestion easily.
- Banking sector
The most amazing idea for me is that big data can find the most suspicious transaction. It cannot only reduce risks but also help people suffer from fraud. Also, it can detect the problem of money laundering which prevents con men to do.
- Conclusion
In conclusion, the efficiency of big data is useful for governments and individuals. And it can generate more profits and benefits for whole human-kinds.

ReplyDeleteThis article is detailed many examples of big data in real life. Some of the examples are I did not think about it.
For example the Big Data in the education industry. This idea is so close to my daily life, I never think of my university that has been transformed by big-motivated changes. Such the data collected on the bases of each student's learning history. This can improve overall student results. Also, the data analysis and study of each student's records. Then it helps the school understand each students' progress, strengths. It will very helpful when a student graduated and determining which career he/she need to find.
The other example I feel interested in is Big Data in weather patterns. The weather forecast is a very traditional technology and it has appeared since 30 years ago. But collected data by weather sensors and satellites deployed all around the globe can improve the probability accurate in the forecast. After all the data collected from these sensors and satellites contribute to big data and can be used in different ways such as study global warming and natural disasters.
The third example is the banking sector. We have a very complex system of money circulation. We save our money into the bank, deposit it by ATM, check or transform money by using internet banking. Moreover, we are not only using the cash but also credit card. The level of busyness is hard to imagine. So, big data can help us to control and deal with illegal activities.
