            “Big Data Analysis”, it is not uncommon for us to hear or read this term lately. Nowadays, big data analysis is bringing a major shift in information technology sector. Well, what is “Big Data Analysis”? According to Wikipedia, big data is a field that treats ways to analyze, systematically extract information from, or otherwise deal with data sets that are too large or complex to be dealt with by traditional data-processing application software.
After knowing the definition of Big Data Analysis, other question that might appear is “Why is it important?”. The article written by Amit Verma explains the importance of big data analysis in four different perspectives. Those are data science perspective, business perspective, real time usability perspective and job market perspective.

1.      Data Science Perspective
In business, it is such a responsibility for data scientists to handle big data problems. Data scientists can use big data analytics techniques such as machine learning, data mining, natural language processing, and statistics in order to prepare the analysis for the business. There are also some data analytics tools that can be used in the process of analysis, for instance, Apache Hadoop, Hive, Storm, Cassandra, Mongo DB and many more.
2.      Business Perspective
With big data analytics help, businesses can gain a lot of advantages such as:
a.       Make better business decisions.
b.      Operations will be more efficient and effective.
c.       Increase company’s profits.
d.      Reduce the cost of storage.
3.      Real Time Usability Perspective
At this moment, a lot of industries are using big data analytics and it instantly become an important part of their process. Those industries include banking, healthcare, energy, technology, consumer, manufacturing, education, etc.
4.      Job Market Perspective
As technology is developing day by day, the number of workers with big data analytics skills are also increasing. Companies also offer high salaries for qualified workers.

In conclusion, big data analytics are currently playing a crucial role in our life and it might continue in the future. As written above, big data analytics can be very useful in every sector and help us to do our job better. It is best if we provide ourselves with big data analytics skills and knowledge and make a good use of it.

    Kathleen’s blog says about the importance of big data analytics. How it is crucial in today’s business and technology world. Big data technologies are expanding and keep developing in order to gain insights that can help make strategic decisions. Since I learn about big data analysis in class, I realise that it is really important for companies to understand them. One key point that I understand is that big data analytics will help organizations to control their data, also they can use it to identify new opportunities. This will lead to a brighter business strategy, more efficient and effective on operations, as the result are higher profits and satisfied customers.
    Kathleen also mention about the 4 crucial perspective that big data analytics have a role in that are written by Amit Verma. First is data science perspective, second is business perspective, third is real-time usability perspective and last job market perspective. I am most interested in the business perspective. Big data can be very helpful in enhancing a business, since every technology giant is now making the best use of big data technologies. By using big data analytics, I believe a company can make better decisions, building the most efficient and effective operation, knowing about their consumer and of course they can increase company’s profit and reduce costs. But I think because big data is kind of new, a company need to invest a lot of money to applying it to its company but with a promising potential of higher return. So, in my opinion any company should be brave to take the step of using big data analytics.

    The first time I heard "Big Data" was from my mom. She told me how important it is in the future, and how it probably works. But then I learned it has many benefits from different fields and perspectives. It becomes a trend that everyone should learn it necessary. It is not only a useful tool but also related to our daily lives.

    To be honest, I remember Feng Chia has a department related to Big Data, and it also have a program 3 + 1 or 2 + 2, I am not pretty sure but yeah they really have a program also offered to students to go abroad just like Bachelor of International Business Administration (BIBA) that we have studied. At that time I was truly not interested in Big Data, for me it is like a system or something, and all we have to do is to run the system in a computer and analyze the result. Sounds really boring and stupid. I admit that this technology is super cool that it really helps human being a lot in different aspects and angles, but I really do not understand why we have to know how it works, how it operates and how it looks like and then spend 4 years of university life at this big things?

    Now, after this semester’s Big Data class, it is really complicated and take times to learn, get familiar with the whole things, platform and the reason why we choose each factors, so yeah, Big Data is not that easy, it’s important actually.
