            Lately, companies are transforming into a data-driven organization and use big data to improve their customer service, decrease expenses, and drive greater innovation. According to the article, IDC predicted that the worldwide revenue from Big Data and Analytics will see a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) growth of 13.2% between 2018-2022 to reach $274.3 billion in revenues by 2022. This will also give an increase in job opportunities which requires big data skills.
            Previously, demand for database developers was a trend for companies since they have an important role in managing the infrastructure. However, as cloud services become more general, companies started to change their perspective. They are changing their demand into data engineers and data scientists. In that event, the demand for this kind of job are continuously rising.
           
The question is, “How do you prepare for a big data career?”. The first step is choosing a right training course so that you can have a basic in big data. For those who have a programming background obviously have an advantage since it is easier for them to move into Data Engineering field. For example, they can continue their studies into Big Data Engineer master program.
           
It is also important to broaden your skills in algorithms and data structures, SQL, Programming knowledge of Python and Java, Cloud platforms and distributed systems, and Data pipelines to pursue a big data career.
As technology continue to improve every day, it is never too late to learn big data in order to prepare for your career in the future. This article also shows that there is an opportunity for those who want to change their path into big data sector.
