Disaster is hardly predictable situations in the world, however, current technology is enabling better management and response of risk and crises. As technology becomes smarter, scientists and officials in disaster management can analyze the once-untapped information with Big Data Analytics. The advantage of big data analytics in this field can help to predict disaster paths, optimize preparation by pinpointing areas, mapping evacuation routes, and formulating rescue strategies, thus, officials can respond more quickly and effectively to the disaster. 

 Big Data can help in disaster response;

 1. Predict, Prepare, and Prevent
     Each disaster provide a massive amount of data that can use big data analytics to collect and analyze surveillance and satellite imagery, and identify critical areas where have to be surveyed and assessed. Then, they can predict in the future incidents more accurately.

2. Real-time data from survivors
     officials can manage with emergencies situations by the data of personal technology, such as mobile phone applications, smart watches that can transfer analyzed information for helping response and rescues. Moreover, officials can utilize data from social media, because it provides and collects direct and valuable insights from users that can alert officials to manage about accessible, large-scale early warning of disasters.
3. Location Pinpointing
    Location technology can use to identify the exact position of limited disaster and determine where is the user’s location. Furthermore, the best advantages of data and mapping technology is showing officials with the user’s location, which are accessible by what types of transportation( car, boat, plane, or walking), and enable to plan the best method to rescue. 
From my perspective, big data is very useful and helpful in disaster management and response. According to this blog, big data analytics and technology assist to develop forecasting, prepare abilities, accelerate response time, and improve official’s capacity to operate for management of disaster relief efforts. Thus, this technology makes us more safety than the past, and help us to properly prepare and prevent in any disasters in the future.
