BMW: Using Big Data And Artificial Intelligence To Create Autonomous Cars

The article talks about the application of big data on automobile and special focus on BMW. In the recent years, many producers have spared no efforts to research and develop in order to create self-driving technology. I have focused this interesting topic for a very long time because the limitation of AI, big data and deep learning is the automobile cars. (This is such an extreme difficult work to be done)

In the past, it is hard to imagine that the car have “brain to think”, however, nowadays, with the development of technology, cars can have many sensitive devices and use big data to analyze the optimal decision for drivers. Also, the safety can be improved through big data as well.

BMW equips their 7 series with many sensors and complicated technologies in order to let drivers feel like autonomy cars. In these process, there are lots of data sets which been processed in the real time. For example, when sensor to a passenger passing by, it should calculate the distance to brake. All of them are the application of big data.

Moreover, in series 7, it has assistant Alexa and parkmobile system so that drivers would not find parking space. The system will access the data and model an optimal route. Such vehicle have embedded computers so that they can interact with roadside sensors. Thus, in the nearer future, we all can expect the automobile cars will come to our life.

Although nowadays it’s still hard to achieve the goal of self-driving, we still use the big data technologies to improve our convenience. Besides, data and analytics are always going to be important parts of fulfilling our dream.
