a very interesting topic indeed. i enjoy going around and trying new restaurants and food, and not for a second i thought of how big of a role big data plays in this industry. in this day and age, most of the consumers are being more and more aware of what they are eating and where it came from. For example, Kobe beef from japan are more expensive than other high quality beef because it is from a very special breed of cow and it was taken care of before it was butchered. organic food are becoming more on demand, consumers really do care where their products comes from because the origin of the product reflects on the quality of the product most of the time. transparency helps the firm to increase or broaden their reach and also gain customer loyalty. i also like that they are using big data to get information on which product are on demand, which helps restaurants to always improve and keep up with their competitions. what us consumers never think about is the logistics and how companies deliver fresh products to satisfy customer needs. it is a very intricate and expensive process to deliver fresh products to supermarkets and restaurants. big data provides information on how to reduce delivery time and cost so that companies save money and give consumers a more payable price. overall, i think this topic is eyeopening. this topic helps us realise how important big data is and it has a very big role in our lives. we just never knew about it.

ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting topic and has a lot of room to explore. I really like to try out new
restaurants and recently learn to cook. I think recently people has been more careful on what
they’re eat and has been took care of their health more. These can be seen in healthy food trends
that growing really fast during the past years. However, I would say that most of healthy
food/products are quite expensive and not have many options at the moment (at least in my home
country, Thailand). Most of the time people not choose healthy food just because it is not
convenient for them. Unfortunately, we don’t have much producer for these healthy products since
there’s not many the efficient way to do organic farm being applied so the ingredients are price are
quite high for this type of food. It would be really useful for companies in food industry to answer
those needs. I believe that if they can push to have more organic producer then can produce
healthy food at a cheaper price than today. It would be nice for people to be able to afford healthy
food conveniently, daily.
The food industry is one of the largest and most important industries in the world. We all have to eat everyday. After all, food is a necessity for life. Today, consumers are increasingly demanding and personalized consumer demand is getting higher. The food industry needs to use the same big data services as the marketing department of large shopping malls to better understand their consumers, improve efficiency, and launch personalized recipes.
ReplyDeleteDue to the advancement of information and communication technology, data can be collected and recorded in a large amount in a short time, that is big data These large, fast and various sources of data can obtain various trends, consumer preferences and other useful information through specific technologies.
Big data analysis not only effectively improves the process, but also improves product quality and efficiency. Besides, it can also assist the industry in conducting consumer's analysis. Online shopping data including social media such as Facebook and Instagram, and even various location data, can be used to analyze consumer groups and distribution and product preference,
and also even temperature and purchase record. The analysis results of these information can enable the food industry to more effectively purchase which raw materials, reduce product inventory, reduce costs, and respond to consumer needs, target specific consumer groups, and improve product competitiveness.
