Big data is forming our future lives. From human basic needs-health, education, entertainment-film industry, even to agriculture, it is going to bring innovations. This article directly listed out 4 ways of how big data influencing and transforming agriculture.

According to the article, the forecasters predicted that the global agriculture analytics market will increase to $1.236 billion in 2030, which is ten years later. The reason is that more and more farmers will adopt “data-driven solutions” which means like artificial intelligence and machine learning to collect useful and related information in order to aggregate trends, evaluate risks and reward, track supplies and increase the yields.

Boosting productivity, managing environmental challenges, cost savings& business opportunities and better supply chain management are the 4 ways that might change agriculture and bring profits to farmers. They regarded it as “smarter farming”. The article refers the scholars at Tufts University stated that by practicing smarter farming could save $2.3 trillion and business opportunities annually, among $250 billion of them could come from data analytics and artificial intelligence.

As far as I concerned, the external environment is the main cause that will impact farmers' yields. With global warming, the extreme climate has been difficult and challenging for a farmer. The weather condition stands a serious factor. Big data could help out the problem with managing environmental challenges and savings& business opportunities. Farmers are no longer facing loss. However, in reality, the widespread application of this technology used in agriculture is based on every farmer who should be affordable and well-learning.
